Previous careers include:

  • Worked as a mechanic at a bowling alley during high school years.Wanted to be a professional bowler and represented the State of Delaware in 1973 for the national scholarship competetion. Left bowling with a 196 average to go to college in Tampa, FL. Never really picked up the ball again.
  • Drove an Ice Cream Truck. After a few bad neighborhoods, decided it wasn't for me.
  • Worked at a nursery where I learned about native Florida plants and roses. It was hot down there!
  • The last job I had in Florida was at a famous restaurant - Bern's Steak House Bern's had the largest domestic and imported wine collection for consumption in the world. The restaurant was an entire city block and the surrounding small houses were all part of the operation, such as print shop, etc. I was a steak cutter. There were 7 of us just in the meat department, and we cut your steak to order. We aged the beef for 6 weeks. I could cut a 72 ounce strip for 6, or perhaps you prefer steak tartare? If you ever go to Tampa, don't miss this dining experience!
  • Back home in Delaware, I worked in a few restaurant kitchens and eventually became kitchen manager of a small restaurant in Wilmington called the Crepe Chalet. We catered to original entertainment in those days along with many other local establishments, and naturally my band Centrepeace played there often!
  • In 1984, I left the restaurant business to join Delmarva Power as a temporary network technician. I was the third member of the department along with John Scoggin and Bruce Yearsley. As of 1994, the department had 11 employees. In 1995, I left my job as a Project Network Operations Analyst to join FCP Technologies.
  • Until 1997, employed as a Consulting Engineer with Entex. Corporate HQ is in Rye Brook, NY. I left Delmarva Power in January 1995 to join FCP Technologies based in Frederick, MD. FCP merged with Entex in July 1996.
  • Went solo in 1997 when Delmarva Power went into the HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) business and helped them bring the mom & pop HVAC business into the Delmarva network. Later that year, teamed up with friend Jeffrey Rosenberg to found Dorset Professional Services, Inc..
